Bennet knows that it will rain and decides that Jane should ride there in the rain so that she will likely be asked to stay overnight at Netherfield Park with the Bingleys. The Bennets are talking about the soldiers over dinner one night when Jane receives a note inviting her to Netherfield Park. They also spend a great deal of time excitedly chatting about the militia that is stationed in that town. Lydia and Catherine (who goes by the nickname of Kitty) pass their time by visiting Mrs.
